Xiao Wenfei (b. 1968)

A native of Jiahe, Hunan, China, Xiao Wenfei holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently Director of the Academic Department of the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy at the China National Academy of Arts and serves as a First-Class Artist. He also works as a calligraphy studio instructor for the advanced painting and calligraphy program at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University; a specially appointed professor at the School of Painting of Renmin University of China; and a guest professor at the School of Arts of the Central Academy of Cultural Administration. In addition, he serves as a member of the Youth Work Committee of the China Calligraphers Association and of the Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Arts Committee under the Youth Federation of the Ministry of Culture.

In 1990, he received dual bachelor’s degrees in Computational Mathematics and Chinese Language and Literature from Yunnan University. In 2003, he completed the postgraduate training program at the Wang Yong Studio of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. After earning his doctoral degree in 2008, he joined the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy. He previously worked as an editor for Chinese Painting and Calligraphy and Oriental Art: Calligraphy.

Xiao Wenfei led the drafting of the application documents for the inscription of Chinese calligraphy on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He has also planned major academic events such as the Cross-Strait Chinese Character Art Festival and the Forum on Bamboo and Silk Calligraphy Studies, and organized editorial projects including the Series on Chinese Calligraphy History and Theory and Studies on Bamboo and Silk Calligraphy.

His calligraphy works are collected by the National Art Museum of China and the Zhejiang Art Museum, and he has held solo exhibitions such as Light and Weight and Walking with a Staff, Singing Along the Way. His publications include Opening an Unprecedented Realm in the History of Calligraphy and Complete Works of Chinese Calligraphy: Shen Zengzhi, Wang Quchang, and Zhu Fukan Volume. He has also taught extensively at institutions including Tsinghua University and Renmin University of China under the theme of “Learning Calligraphy Through Principle.”

肖文飛（しょう ぶんひ／Xiao Wenfei、1968年－）

中国湖南省嘉禾県出身。中央美術学院にて美術学博士号を取得。現在、中国芸術研究院中国書法院学術部主任、一級美術師を務める。あわせて、清華大学美術学院書画高級研修班書法スタジオ講師、中国人民大学画院特聘教授、中央文化管理幹部学院芸術学院客員教授を兼任している。さらに、中国書法家協会青少年工作委員会委員、文化部青年連合会中国書法篆刻芸術委員会委員も務める。

1990年、雲南大学にて計算数学および漢語言文学の双学士号を取得。2003年、中央美術学院王鏞工作室の修士課程研修班を修了。2008年に博士号取得後、中国書法院に着任した。これまでに『中国書画』および『東方芸術・書法』の編集にも携わっている。

肖文飛は、中国書法のユネスコ人類無形文化遺産代表一覧表登録申請における申請文書の執筆を主導し、「両岸漢字芸術祭」「簡帛書法研究フォーラム」などの学術活動を企画・推進してきた。また、『中国書法史論叢書』『簡帛書法研究』などの出版編集も組織している。

その書法作品は中国美術館や浙江美術館に収蔵されており、「軽と重」「杖藜行歌」などの個展も開催。著書に『開古今書法未有之奇境』『中国書法全集・沈曾植・王蘧常・朱復戡巻』などがある。さらに、清華大学美術学院や中国人民大学などで、「学書循理」をテーマとした教育・指導にも力を注いでいる。
